Gabby's Surgery - All is good
Gabby's surgery went very well yesterday and took only 45 minutes. She was awake and feeding within a 1/2 hour of the operation. Today we had a few ultrasounds just to ensure everything else is good (kidneys, spine and bowels form as one unit in the womb and if there is a problem with one, there is a likelyhood of a problem with the others). The ultrasounds came back perfect - Everything else is normal and wonderful.
Jill and I would like to thank Dr. Giacomatonio for his wonderful bedside manner and expertise. He is a great man and we are so pleased he was so personally involved.
Thanks to everyone who have called, e-mailed or prayed for little Gabby.
All is good and we are very happy.
Sincerely,
Trevor and Jill

My Cousin Wil

He has his arm around me and I love him. My new friend, Madeleine, will tell me all about 'boy-germs' but they won't apply to Wil.

Each time my hand got near his mouth he tried to suck on it. Everyone kept laughing but...I didn't get it.

I put my hand out there and Wil started holding it. He is a nice and happy fella. He may be bigger than me and know how to smile and hold his head upright...but I have more hair.
Thanks for visiting, Uncle Fraser

He really loves me and loves my 'baby smell'. That's him taking in as much baby smell as he can before he got on the plane.
I love my Uncle Fras.

Gabby Needs Surgery

Here is the word. Gabby's little bum hole is not in the little cluster of muscles in the middle of her bum - where it should be. It is sealed and the body created a new much smaller hole more towards her front. It's simply a small hole in the skin that seeps or sprays poop.
The condition is called Anal Stenosis.
Her insides look good (says the x-ray) but she will need to be put under and have an operation to move the exit hole to the proper location. The operation is Thursday, August 30th and because Gabby is being put under general anesthetic, she will need to stay in the hospital for 3-4 days.
We caught this early and she will get better so we consider this a 'good news' story.
Call or visit anytime.
Trevor & Jill.

So this is what 9 lbs feels like!
- I am going through my 3 week growth spurt. I'm perperually feeding and am up nearly the whole night as I can only go 1 hour between feedings instead of my normal 3. Mom and dad are pretty beat but they still say I'm very cute - so they can't be too mad.

- The health nurse was here today seeing how I was doing. They like to see babies gain at least 4 ounces each week and in the last 2 weeks I have gained 16 ounces - so now I'm 9 lbs. Nice.
So to sum up; I sleep, poop and eat (a lot right now) and mom and dad are really tired.
