Being Sick Sucks

Well, I have my first cold. Although dad says I look cute when I cough, I don't feel cute. I mean really, do I look cute here? I didn't think so.

Living up to my Name

I love to talk. You should see me when mom reads too me (you will soon).

I Can't Wait!!!

If eating is this good then sign me up! I mean, I know dad likes to eat but this is my cousin Wil eating a cookie. Cookies must be the best tasting thing in the whole world.

Good Morning Dad!!

Mom and Dad got a new video camera and will be taking many videos of me. This is how I greet them every morning.

I'm Special

I just had my doctors appointment and I'm about 27 inches long. This puts me in the top 97th percentile. My cousin Wil was 27 inches at his 6 month appointment and I'm only 3 1/2 months old. It looks like I took after daddy.

I also weigh 15 lbs (which is average).

I hold my head up on my own and learning new noises everyday.

I love growing up.

Play Date

Every Thursday I meet up with cousin Will and we have a play date with other kids my age. It's fun.

This is Jonathan, Nathan, Wil, Me and Danika. I slept through most of it today but I woke up in time for this picture.

I got a Jolly Jumper!!!

But I don't get it. It doesn't seem so jolly. What does it do?

Update on Me

Hi Everyone. Here's an update on me.

I am now sleeping through the night and mom and dad are glad they no longer have to walk me from 2:30am till 5:00am. I liked those walks. Round and around and around.

I can hold my head on my own. Yay! This seems to make people less nervous when they hold me.

I got smiles for everyone now!! I used to smile when I felt like it but now if you touch my nose and make a funny face, I throw you a big smile, for sure.

I have made another friend. You all know about Madeleine and now I've met Chiara and we have fun together. Their parents are Suzanne & Marco. Daddy shot their wedding pictures.

Uncle Jay and Aunt Jennie went to the USA with some money mommy gave them and they bought me loads of new clothes. I'm hip now. One shirt even says "DIVA" and everyone say's, "that's very true." Diva must mean cute.

I'm now wearing clothes that are 6-9 months (I'm only 2 1/2 months). People keep saying I'm going to be just like daddy. If that means I am going to be ruggedly good looking, then I'm not interested.

I love visitors so keep popping by. See you soon.

Love,

Gabby

Fall Weather

I love the fall (it's my first one) as I get to wear new outfits everyday. My Nanny Comeau made me this hat. I love it as everyone seems to give me more kisses when I wear it.

Fall is fun but I'm glad there are no seasons colder than this one.

Thankgiving

We had our first annual Thankgiving dinner at the cottage.
I'm thankful for my mom and dad and all the people who love me and kiss me. And for this Snugli - very comfy.

My 2 Month Checkup

I went in for my 2 month check up and here is the scoop.

I weigh 12 lbs (4 lb gain) and am now 25 1/2 inches long (4 inch gain). I am showing all the signs of being a tall girl. I am beginning to smile and I make lots of fun noises. I know mom and dad like them because the laugh evertime I do them. Much of my clothing has been packad away as I'm wearing clothes that are for 3-6 month olds.

People keep mentioning my eyelashes (thanks for those dad) so I asked dad to get a picture of them for my website. Everyone who sees this picture keeps saying how much they would like to kiss my cheek. I must admit; my cute factor is very high here.

Bonjour Tante Lorraine

This is my Aunt Lorraine from Montreal. She loves speaking French to me and told my mom and dad when I am older I will spend three weeks with her in Montreal learning French. She is very excited and I love her very much. She is tray bonne (again, she will help me with my French).

I Met Great Grandmere Comeau!!

This is me and my Great Grandmere Comeau. She loves me a LOT and talks about me all the time. She travelled all the way across Nova Scotia to see me.

Bath Time!!

Not only do I love bath time but I love sticking my tongue out during bath time. No, I like sticking my tongue out in general. All the time, really.

I Love Being Held

I smile when I'm really tired (or sleeping) and sometimes when dad changes me but I'm not quite smiling yet. I am quite happy though.

Gabby's Surgery - All is good

Hey everyone. Here's an update.

Gabby's surgery went very well yesterday and took only 45 minutes. She was awake and feeding within a 1/2 hour of the operation. Today we had a few ultrasounds just to ensure everything else is good (kidneys, spine and bowels form as one unit in the womb and if there is a problem with one, there is a likelyhood of a problem with the others). The ultrasounds came back perfect - Everything else is normal and wonderful.

Jill and I would like to thank Dr. Giacomatonio for his wonderful bedside manner and expertise. He is a great man and we are so pleased he was so personally involved.

Thanks to everyone who have called, e-mailed or prayed for little Gabby.

All is good and we are very happy.

Sincerely,
Trevor and Jill

My Cousin Wil

Hi Everyone! This is my cousin Wil. His mom and my mom are sisters. He is 5 months old and we look forward to being best friends. Here are some pictures daddy took.

He has his arm around me and I love him. My new friend, Madeleine, will tell me all about 'boy-germs' but they won't apply to Wil.

Each time my hand got near his mouth he tried to suck on it. Everyone kept laughing but...I didn't get it.

I put my hand out there and Wil started holding it. He is a nice and happy fella. He may be bigger than me and know how to smile and hold his head upright...but I have more hair.

Thanks for visiting, Uncle Fraser

Well, Uncle Fraser and Aunt Jackie are gone back home to Calgary and we are not sure when we will see them again but it was sure nice meeting my dad's other brother.

He really loves me and loves my 'baby smell'. That's him taking in as much baby smell as he can before he got on the plane.

I love my Uncle Fras.

My New Friend

This weekend we met Madeleine and her mom Kate. They were very nice. They like to walk and we will start walking with them. They live very close so Madeleine and I will hang out a lot and she will teach me how to say "Cheeeeeese" for the camera. (Madeline said will also teach me about boy germs).

I Met my Great Grandmother Allen

I met my Dad's grandmother Allen this weekend at her 93rd birthday party (I have 93 more years to go). She was very nice and loved to laugh.

I also met dad's aunts Heather, Judy & Vianne and his uncle Kenny.

My First Card Game - of Many

This weekend I played my first card game with the Allen family. It was the first of many.

I had fun and so did the people holding me.

I met my Uncle Fraser

Daddy's brother Fraser is home from Calgary just to meet me. He was pretty excited to see me and said I smell like a baby. I love my uncle Fras.

Gabby Needs Surgery

Last Friday Jill and I were at the IWK because Gabby had a real bad diaper rash (with fissures and torn skin) that was getting worse. We found out that the medication we were prescribed was the wrong prescription due to a misdiagnosis. While in there, the doctor noticed something out of place and called the pediatric surgeon and sent us for x-rays.

Here is the word. Gabby's little bum hole is not in the little cluster of muscles in the middle of her bum - where it should be. It is sealed and the body created a new much smaller hole more towards her front. It's simply a small hole in the skin that seeps or sprays poop.

The condition is called Anal Stenosis.

Her insides look good (says the x-ray) but she will need to be put under and have an operation to move the exit hole to the proper location. The operation is Thursday, August 30th and because Gabby is being put under general anesthetic, she will need to stay in the hospital for 3-4 days.

We caught this early and she will get better so we consider this a 'good news' story.

Call or visit anytime.

Trevor & Jill.

So this is what 9 lbs feels like!

Hi everyone. I've been busy so here's the news.

  • I am going through my 3 week growth spurt. I'm perperually feeding and am up nearly the whole night as I can only go 1 hour between feedings instead of my normal 3. Mom and dad are pretty beat but they still say I'm very cute - so they can't be too mad.

  • The health nurse was here today seeing how I was doing. They like to see babies gain at least 4 ounces each week and in the last 2 weeks I have gained 16 ounces - so now I'm 9 lbs. Nice.

So to sum up; I sleep, poop and eat (a lot right now) and mom and dad are really tired.

Geez Dad...

...Are you going to take pictures of me for the rest of my life???

Dad: Yes.

Picture with Daddy

With daddy always being the photographer, he rarely gets in pictures with me - but here is a nice one of us. I love my dad.

Thanks Matt!!

PS - Read my shirt.

My First Visits

Mom & Dad finally took me visiting this weekend. On Saturday, I spent the day with Nanny & Grampie Comeau, Aunt Jennie, Uncle Jay and Cousin Wil.

On Sunday, I went to Nana Ginger and Grandad Allen's and saw Pat & Ruby, Ken & Dad's Aunt Martha. That's me with Great Aunt Martha

A Day of Firsts

Yesterday was a big day. I took my first outdoor adventure. Mom and dad took me for a walk in my stroller. It seemed to take us a long time to go a very short distance because neighbours kept coming out of their homes to see me.

As you can see, I was very excited to see them.

That night it was time for me to take my first nighttime sleep in my own room. Mom was very nervous but slept better because she didn't spend all night looking at me in my bassinet. I still woke her up many times overnight for feeding so she felt very drained in the morning.

...And that was my first joke.

Looking Grown Up

It is hard to believe I am only a week old here.
It's harder to believe I am supposed to be in my mommy's tummy for another two weeks. She loves me and gives me lots and lots of kisses everyday. I would count them but I can't count. I know it's a lot though.

Awake Overnight

I like being awake from about 2 am till about 6am. It's fun. I know mom and dad like it too because they stay up with me.

I do end up sleeping during the day and I sleep though most of my visits - I will meet you next time, Nini.

I met my Great Nanny Walsh

I met my Great Grandmother on Sunday. We was pretty happy to see me. I tried my best to be extra cute for her (please see me being extra cute in the picture).

I am very lucky to have 3 Great Grandmothers. They are;

  • Great Nanny Allen
  • Great Nanny Walsh
  • Great Nanny Comeau

Thanks for the gifts

Like my mom, I love presents. Mom and dad say I should thank all those who have dropped off gifts for me or helped mom and dad;

First off, thank you to Aunt Jennie for helping deliver me. She was the most beautiful person I ever saw - and the first person I ever saw. I love her.

Uncle Fraser and Aunt Jackie for sending me my first parcel. It was full of fun things and nice clothes. I was going to try them on but I was tired - see photo.

Nana Ginger for all she and Grand-dad Allen have brought me - including the diapers last night. I have filled a few already (better in the diapers than all over you - that was funny for me).

Nanny & Gampie Comeau for all they have brought, bought and done for us.

Dad's Best Friend for bringing me the nice book. Mom has read it to me already.

Great Aunt Martha for all the baby clothes.

Pat & Ruby for the gifts and Ballerina & Watermelon outfits

Pam for food for daddy.

Heather Wilson for the pretty blue polka-dotted dress and pink onesie.

Charlie & Evey for the stuffed kitten.

Tom and Helen for the girly bath products.

Great Aunt Netley for the Pink Cowgirl Boots.

Teak Tree for the big Pink Hippo.

Donna Fraser for the Onesies

Great Aunt Cathy and family for the shopping spree in the baby department. Mom said she was looking forward to that.

Greg and Cathy for the cute girly clothes.

Shirley & Nini for all the great advice for mom.

Zoren, Clea & Deni for the flowers and cute oufit.

Jim, Paige & Brittnay for the gifts. Daddy loved the cookies.

Great Nanny Mo for all the calls and cards. I look forward to meeting you.

The staff at the Inn on the Lake for the great flowers and the staff at SDMM for the fruit basket.

Everyone who came to visit me in the hospital.

And all who brought stuff for me at the baby shower.

Thank you.
